Analytical research facilities

GEUS has a Rock Geochemical Laboratory for trace element analyses in solution by ICP-MS. A second ICP-MS is connected to a laser-ablation system (LA-ICP-MS Laboratory) for the analysis of isotopic, trace elemental and U-Th-Pb geochronological data.

These laboratories collaborate intensively with the SEM Laboratory, which can be used for conventional SEM investigations and automated minerology and GEUS’ Optical Microscopy Laboratory is also equipped with several optical microscopes, which are applied for the investigation and imaging of rocks and ores. Samples can be washed, split, crushing, sieved, separated and mounted in epoxy at GEUS’ own Sample Preparation Laboratory.

Our Photogrammetry Laboratory is highly-recognised for 3D-Photogeology.
