Workshop on glacier changes and changes of the sea level

Published 11-01-2013

Researchers working with prediction of changes of glaciers both in the northern and southern hemispheres will be meeting at a workshop at GEUS on 1416 January 2013 to discuss the effect of glacier melting on the sea level.

GEUS is hosting a North-South Glacier Workshop bringing together researchers working with prediction of changes of glaciers both in the northern and southern hemispheres. At the workshop the researchers will discuss the possibilities for and experience with prediction of glacier changes in areas, such as the Arctic, the Gulf of Alaska, Patagonia and the Antarctic Peninsula, and the effect of the ice melting on the sea level.

The workshop is financed by the EU 7th Frame Programme (FP7) via the project ice2sea, the purpose of which is to estimate how much the sea level will rise as a consequence of the melting of the ice masses on land.

Time:
Starting: 14 January 2013, 2 pm
Finish: 16 January 2013

Location:
GEUS
